Little Brothers group holds Mustang raffle
HANCOCK– The Little Brothers Friends of the Elderly Mustang raffle has been going on for many years, and it’s a very important fundraiser for the organization, according to Sandy Lewin.
Lewin, who is LBFE director of development, said the Mustang offered for raffle is always a convertible. This year, it’s a 2007 model.
The organization usually raises $30,000 from the raffle, Lewin said.
“That goes towards our medical transportation program,” she said.
The LBFE medical transportation program takes elderly friends to appointments with doctors and other medical care givers.
Tickets for the raffle are available at the LBFE office at 527 Hancock St. in Hancock, Lewin said. They are being sold at various events, also, including at the Houghton County Fair this weekend.
“We’ll be selling tickets at the Houghton County Fair in the arena building,” she said.
The car also will be at the fair, Lewin said.
Tickets for the raffle are $3 for one, $5 for two, $10 for 4, and $25 for 10, Lewin said.
The drawing for the car will be Sept. 9 during the LBFE 35th anniversary gala at the Bonfire Steakhouse in Houghton. The winner of the car will be responsible for the costs of license, tax, and registration.
Lewin said there are four other prizes available during the raffle. The second prize is a weekend getaway at the White Gull Inn in Fish Creek, Wisconsin. Third prize is a $20 Visa gift card. Fourth prize is two cords of firewood or $200 cash, and fifth prize is 12 assorted jams and jellies from the Wood’n Spoon in Mohawk.
Tickets will also be sold at the village of Ontonagon Labor Day event on Sept. 2, Lewin said.
