Office Fire: Downtown morning commute disrupted

HOUGHTON — Sometime before 8 a.m. Thursday morning, Houghton police officers and firefighters responded to a call of a possible fire at the offices of Rukkila, Negro and Associates on Shelden Avenue.

Sgt. Darren Kari of the Houghton Police Department said he did not yet know details of the incident, other than the fire appeared to be electrical in nature.

A member of the Fire Department said as of 8:10 a.m., the situation appeared to be under control.

The Houghton Police Department and the Houghton Fire Department were assisted by the Hancock Police Department.

No other details were being released by press time.
