Crash: 1 injured Tuesday on M-26

Graham Jaehnig/Daily Mining Gazette A two-vehicle accident on M-26 in Atlantic Mine Tuesday resulted in a driver of one of the vehicles being transported by Mercy EMS to UP Health Systems-Portage hospital in Hancock, after the driver of a late-model Dodge Dakota collided with a vehicle as it slowed to enter the driveway of Moyle’s Construction.

ADAMS TOWNSHIP — One person was injured in a two-vehicle accident occurring on M-26 in Atlantic Mine at approximately 11:45 Tuesday morning near Erickson Drive in Adams Township.

Both vehicles were damaged, and one of the drivers sustained minor injuries, said Deputy Jon Giachino of the Houghton County Sheriff’s Department.

A vehicle driven by a 37-year-old female from Atlantic Mine was turning into Moyle Concrete and Supply was rear-ended by a pickup truck driven by a 22-year-old male who was traveling southbound, according to the Houghton County Sheriff’s Department.

The male driver was taken to UP Health Systems-Portage hospital in Hancock by Mercy EMS, Giachino said. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.

The Sheriff’s Department was assisted on the scene by Adams Township first responders, Mercy EMS, Houghton City Police Department and the Michigan State Police.
