1-car crash injures driver

A 66-year-old female was injured Monday when she lost control of her vehicle, according to a release from the Houghton County Sheriff’s Office.

At approximately 6:47 p.m. Monday, deputies were dispatched to Paradise Road near Pilgrim Road in Portage Township to investigated a one-vehicle personal injury crash.

The female, whose name was not released, lost control of her vehicle, striking several trees before coming to a stop.

The woman was transported to UP Health Systems-Portage hospital for treatment of her injuries.

Alcohol and speed are believed to be factors in the accident, the Sheriff’s Office reported.

Assisting at the scene were Hurontown Fire and Rescue, Mercy EMS and Superior Service Towing.
