2 arrests in meth lab raid
HOUGHTON — Two Houghton County residents were arraigned on methamphetamine charges after being arrested at the site of a suspected lab in Houghton.
The suspects — Terry Bartlett, 35, of Houghton, and Lawrence Frechette, 29, of Hancock — were arrested Monday after Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team detectives executed a search warrant at a residence on Spruce Lane in Houghton.
Bartlett was arrested for delivery-manufacture of methamphetamine, a 20-year felony; operating a methamphetamine lab, a 20-year felony; soliciting another to obtain psuedoephedrine, a 10-year felony; and possessing/purchasing psuedoephedrine to make meth, a five-year felony. He was lodged in the Houghton County Jail on $100,000 bond.
Frechette is charged with possession of methamphetamine/ecstasy, a 10-year felony. He was released on a $500 personal recognizance bond.
Preliminary hearings for both were set for Jan. 31.
The investigation is ongoing. The county prosecutor’s office is reviewing potential additional charges.
