ATV fire spreads to house

Joshua Vissers/Daily Mining Gazette An ATV fire Tuesday ignited a fire to a residence located near the Houghton-Baraga county line, causing extensive damage.

BARAGA — A fire that initially ignited in an all-terrain vehicle spread to a residence on Tuesday.

Michigan State Police responded to a call about a side-by-side ATV on fire at about 6:15 p.m.

The address was in the 11200 area of US-41 near the Baraga-Houghton county line.

At the scene, both the ATV and house were fully engulfed, according to State Police.

One female occupant and a dog were evacuated.

The woman was evaluated by Bay EMS.

The State Police was assisted on the scene by L’Anse village police, Michigan Department of Natural Resources and fire departments from Keweenaw Bay, L’anse, Chassell and Baraga.
