Trucker ticketed in log spill
ELM RIVER TOWNSHIP — A load of logs came loose from the pup trailer of a logging truck and spilled onto Pike Lake Road near the Clear Lake Access Road, according to a release from the Houghton County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to the accident at 8:45 p.m. on Friday. An investigation found that a 32-year-old Escanaba man was driving south on Pike Lake Road when his logging truck’s pup trailer’s logs came unsecured and spilled into the roadway. The driver continued a short distance when he noticed the pup was nearly empty. He then returned to the scene and reloaded the spilled logs back onto the trailer.
The driver was cited for a unsecured load — spilling on a roadway.
The deputies were assisted by the Houghton County Road Commission.
