Dam Jam: Bands take stage today at Calumet Lions Park

CALUMET — The Dam Jam fundraising music festival is returning to Calumet again this year, and once again will take place Saturday from noon until midnight at the Calumet Lion’s Park.

Josh Mortti, one of the event’s organizers, said this year’s music festival will include 25 bands including: Not Quite Canada, The Go Rounds, Heavy Color’ The Jimmy Hats’ Eric Engblade, Melissa Davis, Dave Brotherton and Friends, The Derek Tuoriniemi Experiment, Jeremy Rowe and Friends, just to name a few.

Food will also be available at the event, from Fitzgerald’s Restaurant, Denali Restaurant, Dave’s Brick Oven Pizza, and the Muncheez food truck. In addition, 12 dry goods vendors will also be at the festival.

Along with the second annual Dam Jam, Mortti said there will also be the second annual New Beginnings Angel Mission food drive. Bring 10 or more food items (no Ramen, please) to the Dam Jam between Noon and 7 p.m. and receive a free ticket to the festival.

Mortti said tickets are $10 in advance and are available at Denali’s in Lake Linden, and Harter’s Party Store on Pine Street in Calumet, through Friday night. Tickets will also be available at the gate at $15. Proceeds will go to the Lion’s Park, and other community projects, Mortti said.
