A community poetry reading will be held on the dock of the Portage Lake District Library on Friday at 6 p.m. Lovers of poetry can read their own poems, poems written by others or simply enjoy listen to others read.
Canal Rock Concert
Hancock’s Canal Rock free concert features Uncle Pete’s BBQ Blues Band at Porvoo Park Friday from 6-9 p.m.
The second annual Alston Tractor Races will be held on Hoover Road near the ball diamond Saturday, with time trials at 10 a.m. and races following. Kids’ lawn mower races will be held after the tractor races, with ribbons for first through sixth-place finishers.
Lake Superior Day
The 5th annual Lake Superior Day will be held from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday on the Copper Harbor boardwalk.
Ladies’ Afternoon Organ Recital
The next in the annual summer organ series at the Houghton County Historical Society’s Historic Congregational Church in Lake Linden is “Ladies’ Afternoon” at 3 p.m. on Sunday. Kathleen Arten will perform music by, for or about women on the historic tracker organ. Admission by donation to support organ and building maintenance.

The Keweenaw Heritage Center’s Musical Monday series presents Cathy Isaacson and friends at 7p.m. at the Keweenaw Heritage Center at St. Anne’s in Calumet.

Tony and Leslie Memmel Concert
Tony and Leslie Memmel will perform at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Sts. Peter and Paul Lutheran Church in Houghton. A free-will offering will be taken.
The Calumet High School Drama Club presents Vaudeville at the Calumet Theatre on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. featuring acrobats, dancers, jugglers, puppeteers, storytellers, singers, actors, magicians, comedians, interpretive dancers and other family-friendly acts.
Auditions for those who wish to take part in the next shows will take place July 27 from 5-7 p.m.

The Calumet Theatre will show “Madagascar” on Wednesday at 7 p.m. Admission is $1.
