Business conference to be held March 3

HOUGHTON?- “New Approaches to Old Challenges,” the U.P. Labor Management Council’s annual conference, is scheduled for March 3 at Michigan Technological University.

According to a release from the council, Don Maki, Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service, will kick off the conference with a session entitled “Mediate that Grievance.”

The second general session is entitled “Workers Compensation: What Labor and Management Need to Know” presented by Attorneys Gabe Cameron and Sam Larrabee of Clark, Bray, Cameron, Larrabee, PC, Escanaba.

Breakout sessions will include “Past Practice at Arbitration” “Top Five Mistakes the Other Side Makes Handling Grievances,” and “Negotiation Language.”

The morning breakout sessions will also be offered in the afternoon, the release said.

The final session will be “The Four Voices of Change,” presented Motivational Transition Coach, Hulings & Associates, Muskegon.

According to the release, “anyone in the workplace representing labor or management, as well as college students would find this conference educational and time well-spent.”
