CHASSELL – A Sunday fire resulted in the destruction of a house on the Chassell-Painesdale Road in Chassell Township, according to Chassell Fire Department Chief Kurt Judson.

Judson said the Chassell Fire Department responded to a call about the fire at 10:30 p.m. Sunday.

Firefighters were still on the scene at 10 a.m. Monday.

Also responding to the fire was the Hurontown Fire and Rescue.

The only injury was to one firefighter who suffered smoke inhalation, Judson said.

The owners of the house are staying with relatives.

The cause of the fire is unknown. The Michigan Fire Marshall will be investigating the incident.
