Keweenaw Trail Report – Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2016

KEWEENAW CONVENTION & VISITORS BUREAU – Snowmobile trails from Twin Lakes to Copper Harbor officially opened Dec. 1, but snowmobile season will start a little later this year due to lack of snow.

Keweenaw Snowmobile Club will turn loose its fleet of trail groomers as soon as conditions improve. Updates will come as things develop.

Any trail usage should be done with extreme caution due to low snow cover and rocks, stumps, branches, wet areas and unidentified hazards.

There is not enough snow to groom for cross country skiing. Swedetown has rolled in a couple snowfalls over four inches on Valley, Cedar, Birch and Tamarack trails for good rock ski conditions.

Mont Ripley will open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays when the weather allows. Please call ahead. Mount Bohemia will open when there is enough snow cover.

Updated conditions are available at Keweenaw.info.
