PLDL hosts garden club

The Portage Lake District Library will host the Keweenaw Garden Club for an evening learning about “Self-Contained Veggie Gardening” on Monday, March 6, at 6:30 p.m.

Jackie Manchester-Kempke will discuss attractive and easy-to-maintain solutions for growing vegetables and herbs using containers. She will draw on her 40 years of gardening experience, as well as her recent participation in the Michigan State University Extension Smart Gardening series, to provide vegetable container gardening basics. Participants will also learn how to make an easy container garden that is based on a more expensive, nationally marketed system.

The Keweenaw Garden Club was established by and for gardening enthusiasts. They have presentations at the Portage Lake District Library on the first Monday of each month September through May. Those who are interested in learning more about the club can visit
