New radio station launches

HOUGHTON — Houghton Community Broadcasting is proud to announce the all-new 99.3 The Lift. “99.3 The Lift” features the Hot Adult Contemporary (Hot AC) format. The new format began broadcasting on 99.3FM and 1400AM WCCY at 3 p.m. Friday.

Listeners are encouraged to place the window clings tossed out during Friday’s Bridgefest Parade in their vehicle window. When a station representative spots a cling, that listener will win a 99.3 The Lift T-shirt. They will also be entered into a drawing to win a grand prize package, valued at over $1,200, to be drawn at the end of July. They will receive a two-night stay at the Radisson Blu Mall of America Hotel in Bloomington, Minnesota; eight passes for Nickelodeon Universe (unlimited rides); Moose Mountain Adventure Golf; SMAASH (virtual reality or active game); Crayola Experience; DYI cooking class; and Sea Life Aquarium–all located at the Mall of America. Restrictions apply; subject to availability. The winner will be drawn on July 31.

Rick Allen will entertain the Keweenaw weekday mornings, from 6-10 a.m.. Allen will continue to serve as news director for Houghton Community Broadcasting, providing news for 99.3 The Lift (WCCY), 99.7 The Wolf (WOLV) and K-Bear 102.3 (WHKB). Northern Michigan University graduate Alyssa Lambert, is taking over Allen’s role as Keweenaw bureau reporter for ABC-10/CW-5 News.

99.3 The Lift is also the new voice of Finlandia University Athletics, and will feature weekly guests and broadcast select FinnU athletic events live starting this fall. 99.3 The Lift will also continue to be the area’s home for the Detroit Tigers, Red Wings, Lions and Pistons.

All of 99.3 The Lift’s programming will also be able to be heard on the AM band at 1400 kHz.
