Break-in through gate at Hancock Beach
HANCOCK — Hancock Police Lt. Jerry Hiltunen is asking for information regarding an illegal entry at the Hancock Beach, which occurred sometime between 10 p.m. Tuesday night and 2:35 a.m. Wednesday morning.
During a routine patrol Wednesday, officers discovered that the lock securing the metal gate across the entrance to the beach’s parking lot had been broken and the gate was open, Hiltunen said.
“We thought maybe the concession stand had been broken into,” he said, “but everything was secure and the beach was fine.”
Hiltunen said it is not known if a vehicle was driven against the gate causing the lock to break, if the breakage was intentional, or what happened.
“We would just like to know what happened,” Hiltunen said. “If anyone knows about anything about it, or was driving past and saw anything suspicious, give us a call.”
Anyone with information can call the Hancock Police office at 482-3102.
