Toys for Tots campaign

The U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program has been remembering needy children at Christmas for seventy years. Beginning with a handcrafted Raggedy Ann doll in 1947, the program has grown to where eighteen million toys were distributed to seven million children by 792 local campaigns in 2016.

The Keweenaw Detachment No. 1016 of the Marine Corps League has coordinated the Toys for Tots Campaign in the Copper Country for eighteen years, last year distributing almost 6000 toys to over 1000 children in the four county area.

The local effort will be one of over 800 campaigns this year that cover all fifty states. Toy donation boxes will be located in major retail outlets and other locations throughout the four county area.
