Houghton appoints city attorney from Marquette
HOUGHTON — Houghton appointed a Marquette-based firm as city attorney at its meeting Wednesday night.
The council hired Kendricks, Bordeau, Adamini, Greenlee and Keefe, which also has an office in Hancock.
Paul Tomasi, who has been serving as the city’s attorney, is retiring.
The city looked at several local firms, City Manager Eric Waara said.
The firm will work on an hourly basis.
“We’re not looking to put them on retainer right now, simply because of how much are we going to use them?” Waara said.
Waara said someone was in the Hancock office every week.
“The beauty of it is now a lot of things are done electronically,” he said.
Mayor Pro Tem Robert Megowen said he had used the firm before.
“They’re highly professional and they have a lot of people working for them,” he said. “It makes it a lot easier to work with.”
