ONTONAGON — The County Board met Tuesday to reshuffle members, approve bills and set the yearly meeting times.

The board will continue meeting the third Tuesday of every month at 4 p.m. in the county courthouse.

At the start of the meeting, John Cane was nominated to continue serving as vice chairman for 2018. The nomination was unanimously approved by members in attendance though Cane himself was absent.

Committee appointments remained the same as the previous year with Robert Nousiainen taking over the positions formerly held by David Nykanen. Nousiainen was appointed to serve out the remainder of Nykanen’s term after he passed away in late 2017.

The board additionally selected a candidate to fill the position of transit director, with an offer to be made to the applicant.

Other business included reports from board members and travel and cash advance form approval for attendance at the Friends of the Court Association (FOCA) Winter Conference and the Prosecutors Attorney Association of Michigan (Paam/Pacc) Midwinter conference.
