L’Anse Twp. gives raises

L’ANSE — The Township Board decided Wednesday it was well past time to reward its workers for a job well done.

Township parks employees received a raise of 40 cents an hour, retroactive through the beginning of the year, by a unanimous vote.

“They’re doing a very good job and it was just overlooked,” Magaraggia said.

Park revenue is up about 29 percent compared to last year, according to township treasurer Kristine Rice.

The village of L’Anse also declined to enter into an agreement to help maintain the little league field, leased from the Catholic Diocese. The field is currently maintained by volunteers and coaches.

“It’s going to stay as-is right now,” Magaraggia said.
