Craft Show set for Saturday

On Nov. 10, crafters from around the Copper Country will be converging on Houghton to display their wares at the Deer Hunters’ Widows (and Widowers) Craft Show Extravaganza. From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., more than 90 vendors will have booths set up at the Copper Country Mall.

Booths at the event will be selling a wide variety of items including alpaca clothing, goat soap, decorative signs, jewelry, cosmetics, glassware, clothing and woodcrafts.

“It is really, really exciting,” one of the vendors, Bev Spehar, said.

Spehar, who resides in Gay, sells leather products like moccasins, purses, wallets, sheaths, holsters and slings. She also has wood crafts like benches and cedar coat racks for sale. She’s planning to take her customized trailer to six craft shows just in November and December. According to Spehar, Deer Hunters’ Widows is one of the biggest.

Pampered Chef, Perfectly Posh, Tupperware, Mary Kay and other licensed vendors will also be at the event.

Bakery items, pasties and pizza will be on sale as part of a fundraiser for Dollar Bay School.
