Torch Lake Town seeks residents’ road input

HUBBELL — Torch Lake Township residents could get to shape the township’s priorities for road repairs.

The township is setting up a road board to oversee priorities for repairs. So far, the Township Board is looking at a road board of about five members, said Supervisor Brian Cadwell.

In November, voters approved a 1-mill, five-year millage to fund maintenance, rehabilitation, repair, reconstruction and improvement of township roads.

“We’ll see what kind of applications we get,” Cadwell said. “We’re looking for folks who have the overall good of the township in mind.”

In a Daily Mining Gazette interview before the millage passed, Cadwell cited problematic side roads in Jacobsville, Rabbit Bay and Hubbell.

The township will advertise for applicants soon and finalize membership within a month or two.

The hope is to be able to have the board weigh in one projects as soon as this construction season, Cadwell said.
