Lea Jean Korri

WHITE PLAINS, Md. -Lea Jean Korri passed away suddenly at her home in White Plains, Maryland on August 6, 2015. She was the daughter of the late Waino and Audrey Korri of Calumet.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Claire Prideaux; and brother, Ward Korri.

Lea is survived by a sister, Martha Morgan, of White Plains, Maryland; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.

Lea was born in Calumet on March 19, 1928, the youngest of four children. She graduated from Northern Michigan College with a Bachelor’s Degree, went on to get a Master’s Degree at Penn State and a PhD from the University of Minnesota.

Lea had a long and varied career which included teaching at colleges, working for the U.S. Embassy in Israel, and she was a world traveler.

Upon retirement, Lea moved back to the family home in Calumet and did volunteer work for several organizations.

In 2009, Lea moved to White Plains, Maryland to be near her sister, Martha Morgan.

Lea will be deeply missed by her family and friends and remembered as a kind, generous and soft spoken person who put others needs before her own.

Her ashes will be placed alongside her parents in the Lakeview Cemetery at a later date.
