Charlotte Jean Immonen

CHASSELL – Charlotte Jean Immonen, 77, of Chassell, died peacefully at her home on April 7, 2016.

She was born on December 29, 1938, in Houghton. She was the daughter of the late Bert and Sara Taylor of Houghton. She was a graduate of Houghton High School and Soumi College.

She was united in marriage to Robert M. Immonen in June 1959, whom preceded her in death in 2002.

Jean was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She loved to sew, knit, crochet, read, build puzzles, play cards, play bingo and spend time with her children and grandchildren. She loved living at her lake home in Chassell and enjoyed having family and friends visit her there.

In her younger years, she worked at U.P. Power Company in Houghton and while residing in Ironwood, was employed at the Leather & Gift Shop and Wayne Nasi Construction.

Jean was a member of the Chassell VFW 6507 Ladies Auxiliary, Chassell Women’s Club, Holy Trinity Lutheran Church quilting group and Marathon Bridge Club.

She is survived by her son, Mark (Tammy) Immonen of Reno, Nevada; daughters, Cathy Koskey (Rick Verran) of Houghton and Chris (Sam) Slade of Phillips, Wisconsin; four grandsons, Zachary Immonen, Jacob Immonen, Tyler Slade and Andrew Slade; sister, Nancy Fountain; cousin, Christine McLaughlin, who was raised with her family and who she considered her sister; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jean’s funeral service will take place at 12 p.m. Wednesday, April 13, 2016, preceded by visitation starting one hour prior, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Chassell, with Pastor Joe Iverson to officiate.

Burial will take place later this spring at the Chassell Cemetery.

The family is asking that memorials be made to the Omega House or Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.
