John E. Sustarich
MACOMB – John E. Sustarich, 85, a former resident of Chassell, passed away April 10, 2016, in Macomb.
He was born August 12, 1930, the fourth son of the late Frank and Mary Sustarich of Calumet. He resided in Rambletown and graduated from Calumet High School with the class of 1948.
On September 2, 1961, he married Louisa Russell at Mt. Carmel Church of Franklin Mine. They resided in Calumet for five years and then moved to Chassell in 1966.
John spent two years in the U.S. Army, 1951 – 1953, during the Korean War.
He was employed by A&P for 15 years and then by Fraki’s Market of L’Anse until his retirement in April 1993.
He was a member of the Portage Golf Club for 25 years and a member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Louisa, of Macomb; a son, Michael (Ann) Sustarich of Midland; two daughters, Lori (Kevin) Curie of Appleton, Wisconsin, and Mary (John) McHale of Macomb; grandchildren, Nicole (Kevin) Kauth, Bailey Curie, Catherine McHale and Emily Sustarich; and a great-grandchild, Kyla Kauth.
Besides his parents; he was also preceded in death by his three brothers, Rudolph, Frank, and Joseph; and half-sister, Mary.
In keeping with his wishes, no funeral services will be held at this time. A memorial service is planned later this summer.
