Robert Francis Sintkowski

HANCOCK – Robert Francis Sintkowski, 73, entered eternal peace on April 1, 2016.

Robert was born on August 19, 1942, to Helen (Williams) Sintkowski and Robert Francis Roberts.

He was raised by Edward Sintkowski, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his beloved grandmother, Orvenia Williams; his brother, Edward (Karen) Sintkowski Jr.; and his sister, Roxanne Sands.

Robert leaves his loving memories to be cherished by his wife, Lucille; children, Brian (Lori) Sintkowski of Hancock and Robbin (Tom) Champaigne of Duluth; and step-grandchildren, Tyler, Kaitlin and Megan Hauswirth.

Robert is survived by his brothers and sisters, Terry (Adele) Sintkowski, Ron (Francis) Sintkowski, Paul (Mary) Sintkowski, Judy (David) Moilanen, John (Charlene) Sintkowski, Mark (Gayle) Roberts, Earl Roberts, Bruce Roberts, Renee Lawfield, John (Vicki) Roberts, Rochelle Maxey and Robert Roberts, Jr; along with several nephews and nieces.

Robert was a lifelong resident of Hancock. He attended Hancock High School and graduated in 1960.

On August 8, 1964, he married Lucille (Brisson) Sintkowski. They enjoyed many years of travel and sporting activities with their children, volunteering in the community and being involved in their church.

Robert had a passion for his work as a carpenter and owned Crestwood Construction.

Robert served on Hancock’s City Council, was the city manager (acting) from 1988 to 1989 and mayor from 1988 to 1990. He served on several church committees and community boards. Robert was a member of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem. Robert was involved with and loved the Knights of Columbus, fourth degree, where he earned the high honor of Master.

Along with his wife, Robert’s greatest joys came from providing for and watching his children grow. He spent many hours watching hockey and figure skating. He took great pride in teaching and helping his children build their own homes. Robert was a strong, hard-working and kind man that will be sincerely missed.

Services will be held at the Church of the Resurrection on Tuesday, April 5, 2016. Family and friends may visit from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

A church service will be held at 12 p.m. with a luncheon to follow.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by O’Neill-Dennis Funeral Home. Donations may be made to St. Vincent de Paul, 204 Quincy Street, Hancock, MI 49930.
