Aili Hilda Sophie Vaughan

CHASSELL — Aili Hilda Sophie Vaughan of Chassell, died on February 12, 2017, in San Antonio, Texas, after a long illness.

Aili was born on November 19, 1929, in Askel, to Matti and Hilia (Moilanen) Tauriainen.

She married Harry H. Vaughan, in Askel on June 7, 1950, and in 1959, they moved their family to Hibbing, Minnesota, where they lived until returning to Chassell in 1988.

Aili was a homemaker who returned to college to earn her A.A. degree.

She enjoyed tending her many gardens, bowling, traveling the western states with Harry, being outdoors and quality time spent with her family.

She was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Chassell.

She was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband, Harry, in 1999; sons-in-law, John Wallace and David Drong; sisters, Vilma, Viola and Elaine; brothers, Reino, Carl, Richard and David.

She is survived by her children, Valerie Vaughan-Drong of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Karen (Curtis) Brown of San Antonio, Jill Vaughan of Phoenix, Arizona, Kevin Vaughan of San Antonio, Lisa Wallace of San Antonio; grandchildren, Kipp (Marissa) Stoneman of Keller, Texas, Lauren Brown and Matthew Brown of San Antonio; great-grandchildren, Hannah, Emma and Isabelle Stoneman of Keller, Texas; sisters, Ruth, Doris and Linda; and a brother, Raymond.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on February 24, 2017, at Morningside Manor Chapel, 602 Babcock Road, San Antonio, TX, 78201.
