Kathleen “Kathy” McLean

HOUGHTON – Kathleen “Kathy” McLean, 66, of Houghton, passed away on Friday, March 31, 2017, at the Houghton County Medical Care Facility in Hancock, where she resided for the last year and a half.

She was born in Green Bay, on August 23, 1950, a daughter of the late Kay and John “Jan” McLean.

She was a 1968 graduate of Houghton High School, later attending Suomi College in Hancock. She was a governess for Phil and Loret Ruppe, and then worked at Michigan Tech University for over 30 years in several departments. She retired in 2006.

Kathy was a member of St. Ignatius Loyola Parish in Houghton and was an active member of the Michigan Tech UAW while working. She was an avid crafter and loved crocheting and making jewelery.

Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by a nephew, Alex McLean and by several aunts and uncles.

She is survived by her daughter, Megan (Brian) Ross; grandchildren Madelyn and Dominic Ross; sisters, Cindy McLean, Sue Turner, and Amy (Brian) O’Connell; brothers, Brian (Kelly) McLean and Bruce (Lesley) McLean; aunts, Bernie McCarthy and Joy McLean; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 A.M. on Wednesday, April 5, 2017, at St. Ignatius Loyola Church with Rev. Fr. John Martignon to officiate. Spring burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Houghton.

Friends may call the church from 10 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. before the mass on Wednesday.
