Thomas Glen Harwood

Thomas Glen Harwood, 67, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family, on Friday, January 26, 2018 at Eden Meadows with the support of Generations Home Care and Hospice.

Tom was born August 19, 1950, to Frank and Anne Harwood at St. Joseph’s Memorial Hospital in Hancock. One of six children, he attended St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic School, Houghton High School and completed his education at Michigan Technological University with a degree in business administration.

He dedicated his professional career to the highway transfer industry, holding several positions including delivery and transport, insurance adjuster and instructor. These job opportunities allowed Tom to travel and explore many of his favorite places in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and the state of Wisconsin.

Tom married Nancy Ann DeLuca in 1978 and together raised two incredible sons, Frank and Eric, the apple of Tom’s eye. He lived a full life and shared it with life-long friends and family. He loved the outdoors! He enjoyed hunting, kayaking, motorcycle riding, saunas, pasties and dancing. As a devoted Red Wing fan he never missed an opportunity to cheer for his beloved “great ones!”

Tom was proceeded in death by his parents and older brother, David.

He is survived by his sons, Frank (Meghan), Eric (Jessie) Harwood: grandchildren, Piper, Paige, Hailey and (soon to be born Bentley Thomas Harwood); sisters, Nancy Lee Leifried (Norm) Patricia O’Donnell (Tim) Paul Harwood (Janice) Mary Jo Harwood (Jim); and his special friend, Kim.

He also had many nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and friends who loved him very much.

A memorial service is planned for 12 p.m. Monday, January 29, 2018, at the Valley Funeral Home at 2211 North Richmond Street, Appleton, WI. A reception will follow to celebrate Tom’s life.
