Donald F. McMaster
PORTAGE, Ind. — Donald F. McMaster, 90, of Portage, Indiana, passed away on March 22, 2018, in Tucson, Arizona.
Donald was born in Manistique, to Eugene and Nina McMaster (Gerard) on November 19, 1927. He went to school in Rockland. He married Dorothy G. McMaster (Luokka) on June 9, 1954, in Houghton.
He graduated from Michigan Tech. He worked as a metallurgical engineer for U.S. Steel in Gary, Indiana, and as a quality control supervisor for General Motors in La Grange, Illinois, until his retirement in 1993.
He was a veteran and served in the Air Force. He was awarded the WWII Victory Medal and the American Theater Service Medal.
He was a long time member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Valparaiso, Indiana.
Donald is survived by his children, Sheryl Robinson (Bradley), Colleen Dikert (Vid) and Donald F. McMaster Jr. (Rhonda); sister, Patricia Ray (Robert); five grandchildren, Bryan Robinson (Melissa), Cori Friggle (William), Tyler McMaster, Joey McMaster and Melissa Dikert; and four great-grandchildren, Isaac, Ella, Aubrey and Nora.
Donald is preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Dorothy G. McMaster; his parents, Eugene and Nina McMaster; and three brothers, Eugene, Robert and John.
Visitation will be on Saturday, May 19, 2018, at 12 p.m. at St. Mary’s Church in Rockland.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., May 19, 2018, at St. Mary’s Church. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Rockland.
