Mary M. Normand

LAKE LINDEN — Mary M. (Seppala) Normand, 80, of Lake Linden, passed away at the Omega House, on June 7, 2018, after a short battle with ALS.

She was born on December 27, 1937, in Spokane, Washington, a daughter of Edward and Margaret Seppala. She attended Sacred Heart Catholic School in Calumet.

She worked at Dube’s Convalescent Home in Hubbell, Calumet Public Hospital, and Keweenaw Home Nursing.

She was married to Paul Normand on November 8, 1958, at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Lake Linden. He passed away on August 2, 2017.

Mary was a member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church where she assisted with many funeral lunches.

She loved the Packers and was a Lakes Football fan. She enjoyed reading, hiking, kayaking, skiing, snowshoeing, knitting and caring for the garden.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sisters, Donna Heikell and Vicki Jarvi; and several nieces and nephews.

She is survived by four children, Dawn (Brian) Pichette, Paul, Jr. (Sheri) of Garner, North Carolina, Gale (David) Lowe of Holly, and Mark (Mechelle); grandchildren, Tara Miceli, Andrew and Adam Kauthen, Alex, Ashley, Zachery and Codie Normand, and Sean Pichette; two great-grandchildren, Addison and Connor Pichette; four sisters, Sandy (Brian) Kaster, Peggy Niemi, Michelle (Bruce) Holsten, and Carol Plute; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mary’s family wishes to thank the Omega House for the care she received.

The graveside service will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 16, 2018, at the Mount Calvary Cemetery in Lake Linden with Fr. Joseph Boakye Yiadom to officiate.

The Pearce Funeral Home in Lake Linden is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Omega House in Houghton.
