Alec Fisher
CHASSELL — Alec Fisher, 19, a resident of Chassell, passed away Friday morning, November 9, 2018, from injuries received in an automobile accident while driving on icy roads.
He was born Alexander James Fisher, on December 1, 1998, in Ann Arbor, a son of Gregg and Sharon (Miller) Fisher. Alec was raised in Portage Township and was a graduate of the Hancock High School with the Class of 2016, where he was a member of the HCH district champion Cross Country Team.
Although family believed he was majoring in environmental engineering, in classic Alec style, he recently switched his major to management information systems with a minor in psychology at Michigan Technological University, without telling his parents.
Alec was a member of St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church of Houghton and Blue Key National Honor Society at Michigan Tech.
He enjoyed playing disc golf, spending time on the water, volunteering at the Copper Country Humane Society and trying to help the environment.
In following family tradition, Alec started his career in the packaging department at Vollwerth Sausage Company. He spent the past few summers working at the Portage Lake Golf Course, and was currently working with the Animal Care Facility at Michigan Tech.
Preceding him in death were paternal and maternal grandfathers, Donald J. Fisher and Larry Miller.
Surviving him are his parents, Gregg and Sharon Fisher of Chassell; his brother, Tony Fisher of Houghton; his paternal and maternal grandmothers, Barbara Fisher of Dollar Bay, and Susan Miller of Farmington Hills; his loving girlfriend of over five years, Carolyn Parker, and their rescue dog, Echo; his aunts and uncles, Debbie (Kevin) Hutek of Hamilton, Dr. Ron (Beth) Fisher of Chassell, Terry (Jim) Roberts of Beaverton, Mary (Gus) Mykolaitis of Mendon, and Karen (Joe) Zanotti of Novi; and numerous cousins.
