Floreen Reed Powell Harvey

WAUPACA Wis. — Floreen Reed Powell Harvey, 93, passed away on Friday, January 4, 2019, at her home, with her kitties and daughter by her side. She loved her family and all the creatures of nature.

She worked as a registered nurse at the Waupaca Riverside Hospital and at the Wisconsin Veteran’s Home in King.

Her love for reading encouraged her to be active in the literacy council of Waupaca, helping others to enjoy reading as she did. As an amateur astronomer, she was invited to give lectures at the local grade schools, Boy Scout and Girl Scout Troupes.

She is survived by and will be sadly missed by her children, Nicki (Jim) Lassila of Chassell, Susan Harvey of Waupaca, and Padraic (Renee) Harvey of Butternut, Wisconsin; her grandchildren, John Lassila, Jeremy (Stacey) Lassila, Jay (Andrea) Lassila and Elisha (Taft) Williams; and four great grandchildren, Kassidy Higgins, Jackson Williams, Nora Lassila and Bryce Lassila. She is further survived by her three sisters, Tekla Johnson, Garnett Narrup and Debra Johnson; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Harvey; son, Jeffrey; and brother, James Powell.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, March 1, 2019, from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. at the Maple Crest Funeral Home of Waupaca.

In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to your local Humane Society.
