Mary Alice (Olsen) Peterson

L’ANSE — Mary Alice (Olsen) Peterson, 93, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2019, while holding her daughter’s hand. She was the last surviving child of 11 born to Amanda and Olaf (O.C.) Olsen of L’Anse.

The sadness we are experiencing is selfish as we have a difficult time envisioning our lives without her presence. The joy is knowing she is exactly where she wanted to be, with her Lord and Savior, and reuniting with our Dad and all of the friends and family that she so cherished during her well-lived life.

Her welcoming beacon of a smile will be missed by all that knew and loved her and her brownies, etc. She will be missed by all lucky enough to have shared a mealtime with her.

Her husband, Ray E. Peterson, Sr, preceded her passing when he returned home in 2011.

She is survived by all three of their children, Lt. Col. (Retired) Bruce A. Peterson of Sugar Grove, Illinois, Kristine Mary Kocanda (John, Sr.), full-time RVers presently in Orlando, Florida, and Ray, Jr. in Rolling Meadows, Illinois. She is the grandmother of six (preceded in death by Matt, three years previous) and great grandmother of 11.

There was a short family viewing on Sunday, January 27, 2019, and then all local family members attended a luncheon in her honor.

She will be interred next to Dad in Lemont, Ilinois. There is not a designated memorial fund or program, simply use the good judgement you are blessed with, if so inclined.

We would like to thank all of you for the fellowship and friendship shared with her. The only difference between her friends was simply the length of time she had loved them.
