HANCOCK — Mark McClannahan, 63, a resident of Hancock, passed away Thursday morning, March 21, 2019, at the UP Health Systems – Marquette Hospital following a short illness.
He was born on July 14, 1955, in Lake Forest, Illinois, a son of the late Lawrence and Francis (Majewski) McClannahan. Following high school, Mark attended Michigan Technological University where he received a degree in civil engineering.
Mr. McClannahan then began a career in food services working his way to becoming the general manager of the Library Restaurant in Houghton. Mark also had worked as a cook for the Pilgrim River Steak House and Roy’s Bakery.
Preceding him in death were his parents; and his brother, Kevin.
Surviving are his wife, Helen McClannahan of Hancock; his step-children, Ashley (Jon Dickson) Vogt of Edmonton, Canada, Arianne (Shane) Leivdal of Phoenix, Arizona, and Hailey VanDinter of Gwinn; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and his four-legged friend, Agatha.
A memorial service for Mark will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 28, 2019, at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock with Pastor Sean Brizendine to officiate.
