Calumet library Friends book sale

To the editor:

We the Friends of the Calumet Public Library held our annual fundraising book sale on June 24, and it was extremely successful. Many individuals and businesses helped greatly. We heartily thank:

Dan Riutta Contracting, who donated two months of book storage space.

Econo Foods, who provided many many fine boxes. Also Pat’s IGA in Calumet let us have all the additional boxes we needed.

The River Valley Bank and the Range Bank, both in Calumet, publicized our sale on their marquee, and so did the AmericInn. We appreciate also the Daily Mining Gazette, how they regularly publish notice of our Library Friends’ meetings and events. This all helped a lot and we appreciate it.

We thank Goodwill for agreeing to take unsold books.

The CLK Schools allowed us to use the multipurpose room that Saturday. Mike Hale and the custodians moved huge amounts of books as well as many tables into the room. They also helped enormously with the take-down. And Patty Hale in the library helped unstintingly in the whole effort, just as she has done all year long. CLK is a very good friend to the Friends! We thank them all for so much help.

We thank the donors of all the quality books, we thank the Library Friends who put in 280 volunteer hours toward this sale, and we thank the hundreds of good folks who came to our sale and bought so many items. It is our earnest intention that not a penny of this money be wasted, and the library and the community benefit.

The Friends of the Calumet Public Library host many and various programs in the library itself. The programs are free, there are refreshments, and everyone is welcome. Also, all are welcome to join our Friends group — at $10 per year.
