Pickers coming back to look for more rusty gold

They’re back. Antique pickers Frank Fritz and Mike Wolfe, stars of the popular syndicated television program “American Pickers,” are expected to return to the Upper Peninsula in September.

The pair and attendant entourage visited a handful of U.P. locations several years ago including the village of Nahma in Delta County where they poked around an old company store while delighting locals.

The advance team for the program, which has been airing on the History Channel for the past eight years, spread the word this past week that Frank and Mike were headed back in the early fall.

In a nutshell, they’re looking for private collections of whatever might be found in garages, barns, attics and sheds.

They stress no stores, malls, flea markets, museums, auctions, businesses or anything open to the public.

All of this, of course, is harmless fun which could end up making some U.P. resident a few bucks. The show emphasizes Frank and Mike’s interaction with whoever has them onsite while serving up a sizable dollop of local and regional history.

If you have some things you’d like them to check out, their number is 1-855-OLD-RUST (653-7878) and their email is AmericanPickers@cineflix.com.

They can also be contacted through Facebook.
