U.P. Kids tourney sponors grateful

To the editor:

On Saturday, June 8, 2013, U.P. KIDS (formerly the Good Will Farm) held its third annual fundraising Bridge & Mah Jongg Tournament. Many people and organizations came together to make this a success.

Our special thanks go out to Superior National Bank & Trust, our major sponsor for the third straight year, and event day sponsors Fred Gaff & Associates, Retirement Solutions, Pepsi-Cola of Houghton, and Wickley Insurance and Real Estate

The wonderful main prizes for the winners of the Bridge and Mah Jongg games were provided by Harbour Haus and Keweenaw Mountain Lodge, again repeating their generosity each year. Other businesses contributing exciting drawing prizes were Calumet Floral & Gifts, Calumet Golf Club, Copper World, Crown Cleaners, The Daily Mining Gazette, Dennis’s Greenhouse, Flowers by Sleeman, Jams, Jellies & More, Kangas Caf & Catering, and Quincy’s Restaurant.

But most of all we thank the attendees who contributed time and donations to help fund the many children’s programs under U.P. KIDS, among them Big Brothers Big Sisters, Foster Care, Adoption, Family Services, and Residential Treatment, providing a home and school for children.

Our congratulations go out to the winning team in bridge, Sandi Engel and Charlotte Hermanson, and the winner of the Mah Jongg games, Jeannine Blough. Nice going!

Our thanks to Sharon Lahti and Liz Owen who directed the games!

Thank you all for your wonderful support. We hope to see you again next year!
