Case is made for Russian probe

To the editor:

I think recent actions of senior advisers to President Trump, including Attorney General Jeff Sessions lying under oath about his contacts with Russian government members prior to the presidential election, make the case for an independent investigation into Russian government interference in our 2016 presidential election. It is not enough to recuse himself from the Justice Department investigation. Any investigation conducted by Justice and the congressional intelligence committees would be tainted.

Furthermore, President Trump needs to turn over his tax returns in order to shed light on his financial ties to Russia that could create conflicts of interest in the way the United States conducts its foreign policy toward Russia.
