Weather, people make great Fly-In
To the editor:
Our sixth annual Copper Props Fly-In was a success due to beautiful weather and the participation of EAA Chapter 1270 members, their families and friends, U.S. Army JROTC Calumet, Michigan National Guard, Superior UAV Solutions (drones), business sponsors, airport personnel and the general public. A special thanks to EAA Chapter members Henry Nordsiek, Erik Lee and Craig Kimmer who put in many hours preparing for the day.
Special thanks go to the following: The pilots and aircraft owners who provided free introductory Young Eagles and Eagle flights, the Daily Mining Gazette, Pat’s Foods Calumet, WOLV The Wolf 97.7 FM, WMPL 920 AM, Iron Mountain EAA Chapter 439 for providing pilots, planes, the Red Baron Flight Simulator and the peddle planes, EAA Chapter 850 Marquette for providing pilots and planes, Valley Med Flight, Keweenaw Civil Air Patrol, Dennis Hext the airport manager, and the Airport Fire and Rescue Equipment personnel.
We wish also to thank our local business sponsors. Without their support the Fly-In would not have been possible: Century 21 North Country Agency, Portage Lake District Library, Auto-Pro Glass & Tire, Tadych’s Foods, City of Hancock, Gartners Gallery, McGann Building Supply, Inc., 5th & Elm Cafe, City of Houghton, Frank A. Douglass Agency, Copper Country Family Dentistry, Superwindowman aka The Anderson Window Store, Swift’s True Value Hardware, Edward Jones of Houghton, Risto’s Hardware, Pizza Works, Keweenaw Chevrolet Houghton and Pizza Hut.
We look forward to a bigger and better Fly-In next year.
