Christians follow God, not a man

To the editor:

For the first time in the history of the universe, I agree with David Keranen! Well…to a point.

He wrote about Martin Luther and although it is not pleasant for the many Lutherans in town to hear, it’s true. He was extremely anti-Semitic.

He correctly states that Luther wrote a book (6 days before his death) entitled “On the Jews and Their Lies”.

Mr. Keranen quotes Luther as saying “First, I advise to set fire to their synagogues or schools and to bury and cover with dirt whatever will not burn, so that no man will ever again see a stone or cinder of them.”

“Second, I advise that their houses also be razed and destroyed.”

And he (Luther) goes on and on, getting worse and worse. I didn’t make this up and neither did Mr. Keranen, so please don’t shoot the messenger. It happened.

But this is where he (Mr. Keranen) and I split. Christians don’t follow a human being (this includes Lutherans). We follow God and his son, Jesus Christ, who in earthly terms, was a Jew.

Different religions follow different people. Christians follow Christ. Hence, the name. If every religion were right, there would be no meaning to the word “right.” For right to have meaning, there can be only one, right?

Jesus says, I am The Way, The Truth, and The Life. In other words, he is “the right.”

(And for you to say, Mr. Keranen, that quoting the Bible proves absolutely nothing, let me clear something up. Every single book in history would have to prove absolute nothing as well, if this one book does. Nothing in history could ever be proven. WWI, WWII, the biography of Abraham Lincoln…and you love to quote scientists and atheists whom you’ve never met and you believe them? Do you see how ludicrous your argument is? Why is it that you disbelieve the most documented history book in history and believe in less documented books and people because you currently agree with them? Is that logical?)

Anyway, this should be a lesson for all us, coming from Mr. Keranen’s mouth, of all people. Don’t follow sinful human beings. Follow Jesus Christ.

David, no, we don’t need a new reformation leader. We are not looking for one. We already have all we need. We have Jesus. He is the only “Right” there is.
