Community fills food pantry
To the editor:
Thank you to the brothers of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity of Michigan Technological University who recently organized their annual North American Food Drive for Little Brothers-Friends of The Elderly. The fraternity brothers worked selflessly all day collecting donations of food from throughout the community.
Additionally, we would like to thank Glenn Ierley, Lorie Maki’s Nurse Aide Classes, Daily Mining Gazette, River Valley Bank, TV6 Can-a-thon, Eagle Radio, Econo Foods, Boy Scout Troop 214, Keweenaw Coffee Works, Portage Lake District Library, Goodwill Industries, Houghton Community Broadcasting, United Methodist Church of Hancock, the countless community members who donated food and the volunteers who sorted the 8,800 pounds of collected food.
The food will be distributed to elderly friends in need. On behalf of the Little Brothers Board of Directors, volunteers, staff and especially our elderly friends, thank you!
