Earth is gift of perfection

To the editor:

Whenever I consider our blue planet spinning at breakneck speed, 24/7, precisely tilted and revolving, it is amazing that Earth’s outer covering of 70 percent liquid stays intact. No other planet has been discovered like ours. God’s creation of the entire universe is the epitome of perfection. Earth was surely meant to be inhabited.

Since the Garden of Eden, man has been plagued with one fatal flaw — sin. Even after the Great Flood in Noah’s time, mankind’s waywardness continues to this day.

Is the Ninth Commandment relevant anymore which is “Thou shalt not bear false witness”? (Exo 20:16) Lying is rampant especially among politicians. In John 18:37-38 Jesus tell Pontius Pilate that he has come into the world to “bear witness unto the truth.” Notice that Christ said “the truth.” Jesus then adds, “Everyone that is of the truth heareth my voice.” Pontius Pilate counters with “What is truth?” That question is still being asked today. We will be held accountable for lying when we stand face to face with our Creator.

The Bible says in the last days “men will be ever learning but never able to come to the knowledge of the truth” (2 Tim 3:1,7). But for those who desire truth in earnest, the spirit of truth through the Scripture of truth will lead them to the Lord Jesus who is “the truth.” (John 15:26).

A recent letter writer’s reference to the Bible as a manual is spot on. Bible is an acronymn for Basic Information Before Leaving Earth.

Sincere, searching reader, what are you going to do about the fatal flaw of sin? There’s a loving Savior waiting to hear you repent of your past sins, accept His gracious forgiveness and obediently follow him.
