Are you listed in book of life?

To the editor:

Why is the book of life spoken of in the Bible intriguing? Why does the Book of Revelation give it such emphasis? What if our name is not recorded in the book of life?

Why do so many people blow off an eternity with Jesus for suffering eternally in hell? Has the devil and his minions deceived many of the biblical truths?

If you have officiated at funerals as I have, one brings the message of salvation to the living? Some have heard. Some have walked away from a life in Christ. Some have been entrapped by things of this life. Some have never realized the black hole in their heart that Jesus can only fill. Some may think, how can God accept me for what I have done.

The book of life principle in the bible is an either/or proposition. Either I choose the blessing of a life with Jesus and the promise of eternal life or a “I did it my way life” and the promise of hell.

Each of us has to give an account one day before Jesus. Will he say, ” Well done faithful servant” or “Depart from me, you worker of iniquity?”

Revelation 3:5 is part of 3:1-6 written to the church in Sardis. Jesus corrected them for being dead and secularized. He called them to repentance. Verse 5, ” He(us) who overcomes will , like them ( the few faithful) be dressed in white. I will never blot out his name from the book of life, but will acknowledge his name before my Father and his angels.”

If your name is written in the book of life rejoice.

If you don’t know, seek the Lord while you can, turn from your sin and know his love, grace and forgiveness.

In this chaotic world, may we know the assurance of “For me to live for Christ and to die is gain.”
