He can find the goal, but...

October 16, 2008 - David Karnosky
I read all of the other papers in our chain to make sure important news briefs (coaching changes, etc.) don't slip through the cracks.

So, I found this little item on the front page of the Iron Mountain Daily News Wednesday in the briefs section:

Lost hunter found safe

MARQUETTE — A cell phone saved a Northern Michigan University student who became lost while hunting Tuesday night in Ishpeming Township. Andrew Jonathan Cherniwchan, 19, originally from Hinton, Alberta, Canada, was tracking a deer when he became separated from his hunting party at approximately 7:46 p.m., said officials from the Marquette County Sheriff's Office. Cherniwchan used his cell phone to dial 9-1-1 and Marquette County Central Dispatch was able to get GPS coordinates of his position.

If they don't already know about it, the Misfits will probably have a little fun with this one in December.

In case you didn't know, Cherniwchan is a freshman forward for the Northern Michigan University hockey team. He had two goals and an assist against Michigan Tech Friday at the Berry Events Center. (As well as two goals against Toronto the week before).
