Son et lumiere — SOHN- eh-loom-YAIR — (literally "sound and light") the name given to an entertainment held by night at a historical monument or building, usually telling its history by the use of lighting effect and recorded sound
Example: "Ms Widdicombe's article on spy novels mentions an example of plagiarism in which a son et lumiere at a historic flat is lifted almost directly from a John Gardner text."
