Endorphins — en-DOR-fins — hormones secreted within the brain and nervous system that have many physiological functions — often causing an analgesic effect

Example: "In a Nutrition Report arguing the values of chocolate, it is stated: 'Chocolate is loaded with chemical mood enhancers; the sweet taste also calms the senses, producing an immediate rush of endorphins.'"
