Enclave — EN-klave — a portion of territory within or surrounded by a larger territory whose inhabitants are culturally or ethnically distinct
Example: "Commenting on the creation of Heritage Field on the site of a former N.Y. stadium, the N.Y. Times editorial said, 'The official debut of the huge ballpark coincides with opening day at Yankee Stadium, which is frequently attacked as a luxurious enclave towering above a downtrodden section of the Bronx.'"
