Word of the Day — September 22, 2012

September 24, 2012 - Scott Viau
Disingenuous — DISS-in-JEN-you-us — insincere, deceitful

Example: "In 'The Critic's Notebook,' columnist Neil Genzlinger talks about writers receiving gifts to encourage writing favorably about the gift-giver's product in his column: 'I am being a bit disingenuous when I say I am wearing the 2(x)ist slimming underwear that were sent to me last summer after I mentioned a V-neck undershirt in a column, which prompted a publicist to send me about 15 assorted underwear in hopes of a positive mention of the products.'"
