| | Perttu out for regular seasonFebruary 4, 2013 - Michael BleachHOUGHTON — Michigan Tech women's basketball guard Mackenzie Perttu will miss the rest of the regular season with a broken right knee the freshman suffered in practice last Wednesday. Perttu traveled with her family to Wisconsin Saturday after the loss to Northern Michigan for treatment. Tech coach Kim Cameron did not rule out Perttu for a possible postseason reappearance if the Huskies were to make the NCAA Tournament, which begins March 15. "If everything goes right, both for her recovery and our season, she could be back," Cameron said. Perttu had started the past six games for the Huskies, with Tech going 5-1 over that stretch. She suffered the injury Wednesday after a violent collision with the floor when she was up-ended driving to the hoop. Perttu had averaged 10 points per game over her last seven appearances and provided a dual threat on the perimeter to keep defenses (a bit) more honest with regards to Sam Hoyt. Redshirt freshman Dani Blake started in Perttu's place Saturday. | in: News, Blogs & Events Web |
