Word of the Day — April 6, 2013

April 8, 2013 - Scott Viau
byzantine - BIZ-an-TYNE (or TEEN) - excessively complicated, typically involving a great deal of administrative detail (refers back to the ornate styles developed in the Byzantine Empire)

Example: "An article explaining the cleverly complicated way horsemeat was passed for beef in some European countries: 'There's no oversight of this byzantine network of meat suppliers and no way to know if the meat contains a drug used on horses but banned from the human food chain.'"
